Mushroom Time! 04/18/2009

We found another great spot for mushies; my computer is being terribly slow this evening, but I will upload more shots as it allows.  Enjoy!

Every few years, our Fire Department has a fundraiser in which you give a donation and they give you a free 'sitting' and a free 8x10 portrait.  We didn't order any extras since the photographer wanted $32 APIECE FOR A 5x7!!!!!  But here it is; I had to do some major cropping and edit out a few specks on the floor, but I like it!  If only Nate was looking at the camera instead of looking at the dogs. :)

Aren't those some good-looking kids?  I can't believe how different Bosley looks now that he's got some weight on.  HERE is Bosley's page with pics of him from the first day...what a difference!

Need I say more?  :)  He stayed home today to fix the fence, and instead of going back to work or doing something else on his 'honey-do" list when he finished, he went to the woods.  And found a whole 2 mushrooms.  Yippee.  Ha ha!

Spike is Here!!! 04/09/2009

Spike arrived at our farm last night.  He loaded and trailered like a dream; no problems whatsoever.  It only took about 5 minutes to get him in the trailer and there was NO drama!  He pretty much followed a feed bucket straight in.  He rode well and wasn't even sweating when we arrived home.  He can't wait to get out with the others and seems obsessed with John (who thinks Spike tastes delicious and keeps trying to take a bite over the fence).  Spike neighs like a weenie; I think even Ollie has a stronger voice, ha ha!  So here are some shots of his first hour on the farm.

Doesn't he have the most gorgeous trot?

Spike is such a beauty.  He has the straightest legs and a gorgeous headset and stance.  He almost looks like he has some Arab in him, IMO.  When watching him interact with the others you can still see him do the 'baby-mouth' occasionally which is so sweet.  I think we'll wait a few days until it dries up and if they're still getting along, we may release him to stretch his legs a bit.  He goofs around the corral occasionally and here he is letting out a little buck:

Mushroom Hunting 04/06/2009

After hearing several reports that the mushrooms were popping up, Nate just couldn't wait to get in the woods.  I went along and while we didn't find a single shroom, I got some nice shots of the flora and a sad tombstone in an old cemetery (dates on the readable stones are from the 1830's-1860's).
