Justin's Story, Page 3
Standing a little awkwardly here, but he's lookin' good.
Beautiful long stride. I was walking the field and checking the fenceline, and he just had to go with me. :) And yes the pasture looks AWFUL; we let it grow since I was in charge of growing all the flowers for my brother's wedding and we needed a ton of daisies, which luckily grow like crazy out there.
Goodbye, Tanner
Last week, Justin's best friend moved on to a new home. It's a good one; he'll be companion to a young rescue which is right up his alley. Justin watched as the trailer pulled away and kept looking down the street; after a few minutes he nickered softly as he waited for the trailer to return...it was very sad. However, he hasn't taken it as hard as I expected. He's been a little depressed this last week but hasn't been off his feed. I think he's buddying up with Tard now. Here are a few shots of the two of them together. We'll miss you, Po-Po...
Trailer Practice
This was technically his 7th time; if you include his first, when we had to pick him up and scoot him in when we brought him home. Sunday, I brought him in and out twice and again on Monday; yesterday, I brought him in once and then back out to finish his supper. I unclipped his rope so he could get to the bottom of the bucket easier. When he finished his bucket, he walked over to the trailer, sniffed for about 5 seconds.....
...and walked right in by his self! What a goober. Tonight I'm going to put the divider back in and see what he does. This weekend, I'm thinking about taking him and Tard out to the Forest for a little trip. Thanks to John and Becky of the Drunken Pony Ranch for letting us borrow the trailer!
Gotta go back and make SURE the bucket's empty before he goes back to the field :)
Here's footage from last night, which would be his 8th time. Tonight or tomorrow, we put up the divider and start closing the door. Maybe this weekend he'll be ready to go down the road a few blocks. He really doesn't mind going in or out; he's such a trusting, smart little guy.
First Trailer Trip!
When I pulled in from work, Nathan already had Lucky and Shiloh in the trailer for a trip; when we returned, we put Drifter and Justin in and went on down the road. He did great! We only went about a mile and turned back, but he was a real trooper. Didn't even break a sweat!
And here's yet another crappy cell phone video; you can see a good shot of Baby before Tard shoves hisself into the frame. :)
