Justin's Story, Page 5

Group Excercise

Justin thinks it's just the most interesting thing EVER when Drifter and I take our bareback hack around the field to check the fenceline.  Sometimes he'll try to ignore me when I go out to get 'Joe' (who comes in himself once he sees me with his bridle and I ask if he wants to 'go play'), but the weird blue thing that goes on Joe's head and Mom on Joe's back is just too interesting to ignore.  He's smelling my knees, nibbling Joe's reins, just doesn't understand what's going on!  I slipped the hackmore on him after Joe was finished with it and Justin almost went cross-eyed looking at the noseband, then promptly forgot about it.  Of course Shiloh's right there with us, as well.  Nobody gets out of Shiloh's sight without causing a LOT of fuss!

Look at those dapples!

This was the color he shedded out to this spring; he has faded a little as summer has progressed.  And you can see how much the scarring on his back has reduced; I'll have to get a more recent picture up here so you can see how much more it's gone down since then.  It's almost nonexistent as of August.

Saddle Time!

I had worked with 'Jay' last fall a little with the pony saddle and decided to start it up again last week.  He doesn't even notice it, even when he's running and the stirrups are a flappin'.  Here are a few shots of him running around while Ally was riding in the pasture, and a few of our trips up and down the street.  Nothing fazes this guy; I'm so proud of him!
